Day One of the Holidays and Back in School Uniform!

As my hands took hold of my mobile I scrolled down through all the messages and strangely I found a message from Mrs Tele'a. I read "Hi Mubasshira, can you meet me at school at 2:30, today in full school uniform, for a photo shoot for the NZ Herald". I quit out of my messages and was astonished by what time it was. I raced out of my bed, got changed into my school uniform and headed towards school.

Mrs Tele’a introduced me to the two men who were standing in the ICT room. “Hi my name is Simon Collins” and “My name is Dean”. As Dean started to talk to us, Toreka and I were given our positions to take. The article they were writing was mostly about how people leave college, work and university at certain ages.

After Dean had taken the photos he walked away and started to have a chat with Mrs Tele’a, while Simon sat beside Toreka and me. He started asking both of us questions and had a good look at our blogs. One of the things he did was to count how many countries our blog viewers come from. First of all he started by counting Toreka’s ones. She had around 80-90 countries. Simon started to count up my ones and at the end, our result was amazing. “104 countries represented on your blog!” Simon gasped.

“We had a great time talking to you” Simon said as we all walked towards the car park to see them off. After they had gone, Toreka decided to drop me off home. I had a great time that day, I was going to be in the NZ Herald! Now, that was an accomplishment for me.

If you would like to see the article that I was in, here is the link.
If you would want to know more about Simon Collins then here is the link.
I hope you enjoy reading the article.

Go Hard Out for the Hungry!!

The 40 hour famine is a special event that people collaborate together and support world hunger. Last night 22 people from Pt England school, supported all these people in East Timor. It is so amazing, how many people are willing to stand up for hunger and poverty in places like East Timor. Did you know that hunger in East Timor is worse then most of Africa?

What is the 40 hour famine?
If you don't know what this is then let me tell you. Well this is a event where people come together and stay hungry for 40 hours and you can only have barley sugar, Just Juice and water.

Why do we do this?
We do this to support world hunger. This is pretty hard, but we do this see how it feels and to experience how people in East Timor live without food. Did you know that 50-70% of people are lucky enough to have at least 1 meal a day. Another reason of why we do this is because we get a chance to give money to people in that country.

I think that by doing this it is very helpful and we can also experience how life is for people in all these countries like East Timor.

Welcome to Point England!

The year 7 and 8 Extension people have been making a movie of the Pt England Way. We got some quick snapshots and added them into a iMovie 11 and made a quick movie. The video above is the movie I have.

Mrs Tele'a told us to make this movie because she wanted to know our skills with IMovie 11. We made a movie about the Point England Way because we wanted to show the people in our community about how we take charge. This movie also shows what we do in our school and what is so cool about this school.

Thank you Mrs Burt and Mrs Tele'a!

For the 2 fantastic teachers:
This is a post for Mrs Burt and Mrs Tele'a, this is because if you saw in my previous post, I had done a silhouette using Photoshop. Well I'm saying you because I have noticed that I have become so addicted to this program now. So thanks to the teachers who made me interested in Photoshop.

At 3.00pm today, I sent a quick mail to Mrs Burt and Mrs Tele'a saying a thanks message. If you see the image above, well that is the image I made for both the lovely teachers. I also sent this image to them. Thanks once again, I am never going to forgot this.

For viewers:
If you want to know who to do this then click on this link (Youtube Link). This link will take you to the tutorial. For this, you will need to have one of the following: Photoshop CS3, Photoshop CS4 or Photoshop CS5. I hope will do the tutorial and see how easy it is for youself.

Amazing things with Photoshop!

Today Mrs Tele'a sent us a link which included videos of how to do these very cool things with Photoshop. Toreka, Selena and me had a lot of fun checking them out. "Why don't you give them a shot?" Mrs Tele'a exclaimed. "Mrs Burt also wants us to learn more in Photoshop because they have more functions and Hyperstudio is so easy to use".

As we started to give it a try, we all chose a little project of what we would want to do. So we looked at the tutorials which were in the link and I had chosen one where we could do a silhouette.

If you see the images above, those are the silhouettes that I have made. They look amazing and if you see in my next post, I have said a thank you to the teachers who helped me get interested with Photoshop. So I hope you liked my images I have made.

Celebration Time Come On!!!

Celebration time come on!. It was Saturday 5th December and it was celebration time.We were at school in the afternoon. You might be wondering why were we at school on a Saturday? Well we were at school because we had been celebrating. Celebrating the last day of ROW (Rock Our World ) 11. Not just me who who was celebrating it was the whole Extension class.

"All over and around the world there's a movement wrapped in love, in Looovvvveee". It was our part on screen. Carol Anne was talking to us. First of all Moses did a Mihi ( That is just a introduction ). When it was time for asking the questions and answering back only some people asked it. It was Paulitia, Tanielu, Leoden and Blessing. "Tanielu go on now its your turn" Mrs Tele'a whispered because she didn't want her voice to be heard in the conversation with thousands of people ( exaggerating ). When Tanielu said his answer he also told them that we were going to do a waiata ( Song ). "Takitimu tokomaru hura hupoi..." as we finished singing the waiata. As soon as it was silent in the room Tanielu went up and said "Do you have the beat?".

Well "We've got the beat the mighty row beat it goes ( 1st: Pat your knees twice. 2nd: clap your hands twice. 3rd: click twice. 4th: Clap your hands twice. 5th: Pat your knees once. 6th:Clap once. 7th: click once. 8th: Clap once. 9th: Pat your knees once. 10th: Clap once, high. You have got it!!! ) You do that 2 times.

As we all finished, Carol Anne just said a compliment to us and said bye. When everything was packed up we all went into the staffroom and ate some sausages. "Yum" said my friend. "Ice Cream time!!!" said Mrs Burt. "Yaaay" we all shouted. We all had mini choc bars that Mrs Tele'a had got. "Finished" everybody said in a row like we were all having a race in finishing of ice creams.
Mrs Tele'a: Is anyone going to pick you up Mubasshira?
Me: I don't know
Mrs Tele'a: Okay then let me drop you off.
Me: Okay.

"You are so lucky that I dropped you off right at your door step". Mrs Tele'a said to me as I got off the van. I laughed when Mrs Tele'a said that. "Bye" I said to Mrs Tele'a and she left. That was a really fun day for me. I was really happy. I felt like as if that day was the best day of my life. I wish we have another day just like that next year. It was awesome.
